Now, as we look forward to a new year, with a new institutional home, we have many exciting opportunities ahead of us. One of NACLA’s strengths is its longevity – it’s a rare thing for this kind of progressive, grassroots organization to celebrate a 45th anniversary, as we did this year with Noam Chomksy and Javier Sicilia. Now that we’re beginning our collaboration with NYU CLACS, we’re creating an even stronger base from which to bring you information that is otherwise left under-reported, overlooked, or covered-up. For instance, we’ll be able to tap the vast resources of NYU CLACS faculty and the enthusiasm of their students to make our publications and programs even better. During the next year, we’ll bring you Reports on the recent elections through the Americas; on movements for climate justice; on the theory and practice of horizontalist organizing from Occupy to Argentina; and on the shifting terrain for workers in Mexico, among other topics. What’s more, we’ll be expanding our web-based news coverage and analysis, and now that we have a new base at NYU, we’re planning some great public programming, as well.

This time of year, we look back and reflect. We know that we have only been able to continue our work for these 45 years because of the support of people like you. As you know, NACLA has always operated on a very small budget – sales of the magazine and your donations have always provided the bulk of the revenue we use to carry out our mission. We stretch every one of your donated dollars to the maximum we can, and now, with the administrative support CLACS is providing, we will be able to use more of the funds you donate for our publications and programs.
