Abya Yala to Palestine

Tracing support for Palestinian liberation allows us to see how communities in struggle can establish a basis of global politics beyond power and domination.

August 29, 2024

Latin America has long been an important territory of state-level and popular support for Palestine. In light of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, we have launched a web series bringing together voices and narratives in solidarity with Palestine, in addition to highlighting the violent history of Israeli  surveillance, interference, and support for dictatorial regimes in the region. The series will feature new contributions by scholars, activists, and journalists, in addition to our past coverage on the topic. As George Ygarza writes in an introductory piece for the series, "weaving together support for Palestinian liberation allows us to see how communities in struggle can establish a basis of global politics beyond power and domination."

This web series will be followed by a winter 2024 issue of the NACLA Report delving deeper into the topic. Tracing the shared histories and intimacies between pueblos in Latin America and Palestine serves as "a testament to a global undercurrent that seeks the preservation of life with dignity, bringing communities together under shared aspirations to create new worlds," writes Ygarza.
