This Newsletter was delayed by an intensive staff effort to prepare a background report on recent events in Mexico. The forthcoming pamphlet will include several eye-witness and analytical accounts of the student uprising and government repression; a chronology of events; a statistical and background article on the public and private Mexican economy; a list of U.S. corporations, non-profit organizations, universities and lobbyists involved in Mexico; plus shorter pieces on the educational system, political parties and U.S. ambassadors. We hope this will be the first in a series of country pamphlets.
Two articles appearing in the pamphlet are printed in this issue of the Newsletter because of their immediacy.
