NACLA Seeks Co-Executive Editor (Non-remunerated)

NACLA seeks a new co-Executive Editor specializing in fundraising, outreach, and administration (remote or in-person).

June 20, 2024

NACLA is looking for a new co-Executive Editor who can serve as our advisor for fundraising, outreach, and administration. This role serves as one of three co-Executive Editor positions that make up NACLA’s leadership team, which works closely with NACLA staff members on web, print, and administrative duties. Building on recent growth, NACLA continues to work to expand our media offerings and public-facing engagements as well as upgrading our web presence, all of which requires more resources. The Executive Editor advising on fundraising and administration will support development staff and guide overall strategy for fundraising and outreach.

The ideal candidate has experience in development from a non-profit perspective, familiarity with NACLA’s work, and a commitment to NACLA’s mission and vision. This role is a non-remunerated, volunteer position offering the opportunity to have a significant impact on NACLA’s organizational health and long-term sustainability.

As part of the NACLA executive team and staff, the advisor would meet once weekly, or as available, with the staff and co-Executive Editors and every other week, or as needed, with our development staff member. The advisor will offer input on fundraising strategies and assist with grant-writing, outreach, and identifying new funding sources. The advisor will also represent NACLA in communications with funders and major donors. Experience in these areas is a plus, especially if related to Latin America and/or progressive media outlets. Co-Executive Editors typically spend four to six hours a week on NACLA.

NACLA’s development goals include expanding staff capacity, strengthening organizational infrastructure, and building long-term sustainability. To do so, we seek to expand our base of support from individuals, including major donors, increase the effectiveness of our fundraising campaigns, and expand our grant-seeking efforts. We also hope to draw on the new co-Executive Editor’s experience to build relationships with other organizations (academic, non-profit, activist, media) with whom we can collaborate on projects of shared interest.

If you are interested, please email a cv or resume, and a short description of your background, your experience, and your motivations for working with NACLA, to execed@nacla.org. Expressions of interest will be reviewed on a rolling basis until this position is filled.
