NACLA Editors' 2018 Picks

Dear Naclistas,

This year marked our 50th year of publication. Up and down the Americas, a new wave of right-wing politics and violence means NACLA’s voice is more crucial than ever. In the difficult days ahead, as in those we have faced before, stand with us anew or again to ensure that NACLA remains a vital source for progressive coverage and analysis of the Americas.

As we look ahead to 2019, take a moment to revisit 12 of our most memorable pieces in print and online from the year that was:

-“A Deal with the Devil: The Fujimori Pardon” by Jo-Marie Burt

-“Military Capitalism” by Paul Amar (from our spring print issue)

-Deciphering the Nicaraguan Student Uprising/ Descifrando el levantamiento estudiantil nicaragüense” by Lori Hanson and Miguel Gomez

-“In Argentina, Feminists Versus the Catholic Church” by Cora Fernandez Anderson

-Death and Displacement: A USAID Export” by Victoria McKenzie and Steven Cohen (from our summer print issue)

-“Ruin Nation” by Hilda Lloréns (from our summer print issue)

-“Murder in Colombia’s Peace Laboratory/ Homicidio en el Laboratorio de Paz Colombiano” by Alex Diamond

And remember—we are only able to produce this content with your help, so please donate to NACLA today if you haven't already!

We wish you all a restful holiday season.

In solidarity,
